It is even more amazing to hear this again, in your voice in my head, while seeing beautiful shapes of your words and your photographs. 💘 Thank you for the sheer trust and creativity you brought to the workshop, Sumira.

Such a love-filled ode to Bombay, Sumira. Love the happy, toothy grins! And you left it at a cliffhanger. It wasn't Mumbai that had changed...I want to know what had changed.

Mumbai is a city with all its stories that has intrigued me ; your piece has only added to it. Your descriptions of hostel life took me back a few decades when I was in hostel albeit in a small town in Karnataka.

What a lovely goodbye? Is there any other way of breaking up with a beloved city that you owe so much to, which starts to ask for more than you can give.

Mumbai meri jaan, resonates with me as I lived it to it’s fullest I one year from Oct, 92 and witnessed most terrible time! Dec,6 riots of Babri masjid demolition, then in Jan Serial bomb explosions around our building as I worked at Churchgate. Then again deadly and fiery riots in March. But the city handled all with great compassion and people come together undivided to bear the damage done to divide the Mumbai’s very Jaan ie brotherhood among all. As I still found find a hand from inside taking me in while the train started and I was feeling down or someone making space for me to get in.
